Turn it over and hold it to the light at an angle, because the mark is not printed, it is acid etched and it only appears when the light rakes across it. BACCARAT FRANCE in a circle around the three vessels, the decanter, the goblet and the tumbler, which the house has used since 1936. Photographs seven and eight are that mark, shot twice at different angles because one angle never catches it. The form is a trumpet rising out of a fluted shell bowl on a disc foot. Those flutes are the reason to buy it. Each one is a separate curved facet cut into the blank, and where they meet they form ridges that catch light along their whole length while the hollows stay dark. Walk past it and the whole lower half of the vase flickers. Baccarat crystal is thirty per cent lead, which is why it weighs what it weighs and why the refraction is what it is. Put an ordinary glass vase beside it and the difference is not subtle. Small signed Baccarat is the most under-bought thing the house makes, because the sculptures and the chandeliers take all the attention and a nine inch bud vase looks modest in a photograph. Condition: Used. No chips, no cracks and no bruising to the flutes. Rim smooth. Acid etched BACCARAT FRANCE mark legible on the underside and photographed twice. Glass clear with no cloudiness. Ships from Baltimore via FedEx within the stated handling time. Flat rate shipping by size. Combined shipping on multiple items. Returns accepted for 30 days. Ten percent of every sale goe
