Complete 8-volume set of The World Book: Organized Knowledge in Story and Picture, published in 1918 by Hanson-Roach-Fowler Company. The World Book was first published in 1917, and this 1918 set retains the original early 8-volume format and design, making it a particularly appealing example from the encyclopedia’s earliest years. The set features the distinctive cloth-covered bindings, green and gilt spine panels, period typography, illustrations, maps, photographs, and reference material associated with the original edition design. This is a full matched set of Volumes 1–8 and has strong appeal for collectors of early reference books, World Book history, decorative libraries, studies, offices, and traditional or old-world interiors. Condition is antique and shows age-related wear. Covers and spines have rubbing, discoloration, spotting, fraying, and edge/corner wear. Pages show toning and occasional staining. Some interior pages have tears, including the photographed foldout/illustrated page. Overall bindings and pages are in good condition. Please review all photos carefully. A handsome early World Book set from the encyclopedia’s original design era, both collectible and highly decorative.
